Stress Triggers Back Pain!

Stress Triggers Back Pain!

Stress and other emotional factors are believed to play a major role in low back pain, particularly chronic low back pain. Many people unconsciously tighten their back muscles when they are under stress, studroyalty-free-backpack-manies revealed.

Low back pain is used to describe a range of symptoms. Depending on the cause, low back pain may be dull, burning, or sharp. It may be felt at a single point or over a broad area.

It can come on gradually or suddenly and may occur with muscle spasms or stiffness.

Back pain can either be acute or chronic. Acute lasts for less than three months and most people gain relief after about 4 to 6 weeks of home treatment.

Chronic on the other hand lasts longer than three months.

Experts said stress causes tense muscles which are tight and feel “hard” to the touch.

People who are stressed often have neck, shoulder, and low back pain. This may be caused by constant tension in the muscle because of stress. Stress also affects rheumatoid arthritis.

Easy remedies:
For chronic back pains, simple home remedies will ease the pain. Applying ice for 5 to 15 minutes every two or three hours will do a lot of help. Taking a hot shower or using a heating pad or hot water bottle can do wonders for some.

Others opt the fast and easy relief from pain medicines like Tramadol. Taking Tramadol on a regular schedule usually works best instead of waiting until the pain is severe.  A number of online pharmacies including drugstoretm.com. carry Tramadol.

For the first day or two, rest in a comfortable position. Try lying on your side with a pillow between your knees. Or lie on your back on the floor with a pillow under your knees.

Medical experts advise patients to get back to their normal activities as soon as possible. Movement helps your muscles stay strong. Staying in bed for more than 1 or 2 days, they said, can actually make the problem worse.

Walking is the simplest and perhaps the best exercise for the lower back.

However, if symptoms are severe or pain does not stop even after two weeks of self care, it is best to consult a doctor. Stronger pain medicines and physical therapy may be necessary.
Strive to make your lives stress-free as stress is one of the m
ain causes of back pains.

Cynthia’s Comments:

I agree that when you get back pain because of stress, you can use some easy remedies like ice, and heat; but it is important that you use them wisely and when it is deemed too. If you just got a sore back today heat-and-coldthen

use ice first for the first three days. There is always inflammation when that occurs after a injury. Then after that you can use cold and hot, usually 10 minutes each, twice to three times a day.  I do not agree that an easy relief is meditation, because it is like a bandage on a sore; it helps for now but it hurts more when you ripe off the bandage and the sore is still there. I would always try the natural way first; Ice, peppermint essential oil massage blend, self-massage, Trigger point self-massage,heat, and rest. There is also another natural way to help a sore back is breathing. Deep breathing for pain relief. It is very easy; settle your self and take a slow deep breath in and hold just for a second and the

n slow and very slowly breath out.  Do this deep breathing until the sharp pain is gone. If you have tried all of these natural healing remedies than I would try medication. Please read direction carefully when using any kind of medications. It is also very important that you never stop moving when you have any kind of back pain, unless the pain gets worse and worse go see your medical Doctor as soon as possible or go to the emergency. Always listen to what your body; it is trying to tell you something! Just remember there are no side effects in trying all natural first. To all of you with back pain, take the Natural Healing Journey first, You will be pleasantly surprised!

Here is a great book to help you with your back pain naturally:

3 Essential Self Massage Tools

3 Essential Self Massage Tools
By James M Harris
.
Most of us unconsciously do a self massage without even realizing. We massage our forearm and shoulder if we have a pain there. We press our forehead if tension is taking a toll on us. We also enjoy pressing our feet at the end of a long and hard day. Self massage surely makes you feel at ease. If you want to explore this method of relief further, there are actually several useful tools for self massage so you don’t have to completely go it alone. Several self massage options like aromatic oils, foam rollers, and yoga therapy balls have been explained below.
The use of essential and aromatic oils is a probably the first thing you will think of as a primary tool for massaging yourself. These oils are not only fragrant but they have many medicinal properties. Just try massaging your body parts with a few drops of these essential oils for a few minutes. Massage oils reduce friction and help you to work your muscles deeply without irritating your skin.
One way to enhance the benefits of self massage is to get self massage tools. Foam rollers are an excellent tool for self massaging. These are made of good quality foams which allow you to roll yourself on these and enjoy a good massage. This massage is soothing and does not need much practice. These rollers can be used on all parts of the body to relieve pain. The right kind of roller will create heat in the inflamed area, internally, and cure the pain. It also helps in reducing swelling. Buying a good quality roller will surely give you good benefits with self massage. These can be used as long as you feel good.
Yoga therapy balls are another great self massage tool. For starters, using yoga therapy balls is an excellent way to massage your foot. Put the yoga therapy ball in a sock and place them under your foot while working at office or while watching television, at home. These balls can be put under your back or hip while sitting on the couch or lying down on the floor. One really good trick is to roll the ball with your back against a wall to sore back muscles. This ball also proves to be a great stress buster. Just squeezing the balls in your palms will not only exercise your fingers but will also relive your stress. Gently rubbing these balls can also reduce muscle spasms.
The use of self massage tools is not at all painful. While using these self massaging tools you must feel a pleasant pain and should feel relieved from the pressure and tension in the affected area.
I’ve been interested in self massage for almost as long as I’ve been into yoga. The two really can go hand in hand. For more information about self massage therapy please visit Jill Miller’s Yoga Tune Up® site. Jill’s teachings inspire me because her program combines yoga with body therapy and self-massage. I’m a huge fan. You can also find her unique Yoga Tune Up Therapy Balls, some of the best self massage tools available.

Cynthia’s Comment:

As a Massage Therapist, I would have to agree on these three essential self-massage tools. There are many self-massage tools out there, but using aromatic oils while self-massaging can enhance the healing process, and help in reducing pain. If you can find the right essential oil blend; like a Sore Muscle Blend, or Tendon & Ligament Blend. Check with your local massage therapist or any Aromatherapist, they will have one just for you! But please ask them before trying any on your own. This is just for your safety!

Second tool is a foam roller, that can help in massaging out the muscles that are hard to get too, and you can self-massage the larger muscles on a much larger surface. Just one awareness to foam rollers is that if you have fibromyalgia; one must start very slow, using as little pressure and not self rolling all the muscles at once. One must work up to a deeper, and longer time using the foam roller. Just remember when using any kind of self-massage tool, listen to your body, if it does not feel right, STOP! This applies to everyone.

Thirdly is Yoga therapy balls, that is really good for the bigger muscles, including the shoulder, arms, gluts, thigh51txvorm9els and back muscles. They can also be used on the feet and hands too. One still must be aware of the pressure they use when using the Yoga therapy balls. Again be aware of what your body is telling you, if it is too sore; stop, and if you like it a little deeper, that is OK as long as you do not hurt yourself. Go to my other website and check out this great product called “Trigger Point Start Up Kit“, it has everything you need to get started with self-massage and a great tool to help you!

Please take care at what ever kind of self-massage tool you use. You are the only one that really knows how it feels, so learn to your body, remember it knows you better then you know it!
Happy Self-masssage!

Why Suffer From Headaches - Try Self-Massage

Suffering From Headaches - Try Self-Massage
By Richard Lane

Common headaches generally consist of pain in or around the head and the face. The pain can be just on one side or can be bilateral. The type of pain can also vary ranging from a gentle ache through to throbbing or a pounding discomfort. The pain can be centered on a particular spot or can be widespread with no obvious focal point.

Headaches can range froimg_5183m slight and mildly annoying through to sever and debilitating. Whilst there are many different reasons why headaches can occur, one of the more typical causes is muscular tension. This muscular tension can be the result of physical injury to a muscle or muscles, tightness in the muscles from a repeated activity in which muscles are contracted for extended periods of time or just plain stress. Trigger points which are the result of muscular tension can be associated with the cause of headaches.

But what are trigger points? “

One definition of a trigger point is that they are “hyper-irritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in bands of muscle fibers”. They may also be considered as localised areas of pain that develop in muscles due to overuse or chronic spasms. Trigger points have the property that they create a reproducible and predicable pain pattern when it is activate.

One of the more relevant and surprising muscles in which trigger points can lead to headaches is called the sternocleidomastoid muscle (SCM for short). This muscle is in the front of your neck which is probably why most people don’t consider it when they get headaches or neck pain - you normally get pain at the back of the neck, very rarely is there pain in the front. However trigger points in the SCM can cause a tremendous amount of pain and discomfort but it’s always referred somewhere else.

Frontal headaches or pressure across the forehead may well be the result of trigger points in the SCM. Also SCM trigger points can send pain to the eye, the sinuses and even make the back teeth sore. Other symptoms include scalp tenderness right at the top of your head, dizziness, visual disturbances and even increased production of mucous. Read the rest of this entry »

Love, Human Touch, Self-Massage!

 Love, Human Touch, Self-Massage!
By Cynthia Barnesky, RMT

How do we show ourselves and each other that we really love and care for one another? It is known as touch and the art of touch is self-massage. Studies show that without self-massage or massage, we humans will become ill; for babies they will lose weight, have a hard time growing up healthy, and will have a hard time developing healthy relationshipsimg_5205-150x128 with themselves and others. This touch can be from a loving caring parent, taker, sibling or any other person who is looking after the baby. As adults, without the tender caring touch, the body’s immune systems become compromised and we will also become ill, depressed, confused and the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies start to break down.

Self-massage or massage is not just a touch; it is a way of showing love, caring, healing, and appreciation for yourself and others. A lot of us think that when we use the word “touch” it means sexual, but that is far from the truth. Without self-massage or massage we cannot become the healthy, happy and loving human being we should be. Self-massage or massage is touch with a healing twist to it. For many humans without family, friends, or partners, there is always a way of having the greatest healing art of touch and this is though self-massage or massage. When we give our own self a massage, the body, mind and soul take a big breath of fresh air, helping to maintain, and prevent illness.

Learning self-massage or, as a partner, or just a friend, giving massage, what great gift to give someone you love or really care for! All it takes is to learn some simple techniques that can be used on oneself or shared with someone you care for. This is also a wonderful way to get to know your own body. If self-massage or massage feels good to you, you will let a friend, family or partner know just how good it made you feel and they might want to try it too!

Here are the five major techniques that to first learn how to do safely. Effleurage (long strokes); Kneading (lifting, squeezing, along with rolling); Vibration (quick movement of skin); Friction (pressure on skin) and last but not least, Fanning (gentle, soft finishing stroke). Once you have learned, practiced, and experienced these strokes you can share, teach and pass on this life changing gift of touch; “Self-Massage!”

And to learn about these self-massage techniques, go to http://naturalhealingbegins.com/reviews/self-massage-books/ to check out the wonderful books offered on self-massage. Cynthia Barnesky; Registered Massage Therapist, Reiki and Reflexology Practitioner has used these techniques on her clients and herself too.

Hi,

For a couple of years I have been trying to figure out a way to rid myself of my shoulder pain. My dog had leapt off the end of her leash into the air, taking along my shoulder.
I am a holistic therapist who works with massage therapists and so I have had countless wonderful massages of all types, therapeutic and otherwise. Cynthia’s massage was far more than a massage. It was very therapeutic which I wanted and it included many other aspects that also helped including trigger points, crystal work, intuitive messages and much more. I was able to sleep without pain and awakened with a nice loose feeling over my whole body.
Cynthia is a very talented practitioner and I believe that I just experienced the best massage I may ever have had.

Hi,

Cynthia has helped me more than any of the massage therapists I have been to in the last 15 years. My first car accident was 15 years ago and the second was 6 years ago. Since then, I have suffered from constant headaches, neck and back pain. As part of a health/pain management team, Cynthia has helped me to last longer from massage to massage and also I have not needed to see my chiropractor as often. She uses techniques of trigger point that have really helped my muscles to release more than other massage therapists have been able to do. Now that I am pregnant, she has also been able to adapt her techniques to adjust to my changing body. I especially like how she is able to “tune” in and find the tightest spots and get them to release.

Thankyou Cynthia!

Intuitive Pet Healing/Reading

 2010/07/14

Hello!

I just wanted to let everyone know how amazingly talented Cynthia is. Recently, my dog was attacked by a pit bull and had sustained a serious neck injury as well as emotional trauma. I called Cynthia right away to do distance pet healing on my dog. The very next day after the healing, it was like nothing ever happened! My dog had his beautiful spirit and energy back. I couldn’t believe it. When I took my dog for a checkup a few days later the vet couldn’t believe how his injuries were healing. She had said it was one of the fastest heailngs she’s ever seen. I give so much thanks and credit to Cynthia for helping us through this life situation. I am so grateful to have found Cynthia and would recommend her services. If you have a pet, you must have Cynthia’s phone number on hand!
